Off-Page SEO

Let’s talk more about the 3 sections of SEO. Last week was our introduction to SEO and in those posts I talked about creating another set of 3 diving into each section more, so that’s exactly what we’re doing this week! Today we’re talking about Off-Page SEO and later in the week we’ll talk about On-Page SEO. If you’d like to learn about Technical SEO I have a blog post already up on it.

What is Off-Page SEO? Off-Page SEO is an umbrella term for indirect SEO-related actions which are aimed to boost the website on the internet that occurs away from that website. Why is it important? It’s important because it tells Google what others think about your site.

Here’s 4 things you can do to help Off-Page SEO.

Participating in Forum Discussion- Talking about your business and sharing your site’s link in other places helps Google a ton. Anytime you post in a Facebook Group, Reddit Forum, Instagram Groupchat it helps! This is something you might already be doing, but it’s nice to have the peace of mind that you’re helping your business.

Get a Guest Author- It helps not just your business, but their business as well; a win-win for everyone. Not to mention the fantastic relationship you might get out of it. I am a huge believer of community over competition. I think making friends within your small business space is so important and honestly underrated.

Fix Your Broken Links- This might seem obvious, but you’d be surprised how many people don’t double check that all of the links on their website are working. You can use programs like SEMRush or LinkMiner to help detect them, but I personally like using Google’s Search Console.

Newsletters- This is a fantastic way to talk to your audience, boost engagement, and improve your SEO. There’s so many different email marketing platforms that you can use; I personally use Flodesk, but I’ve heard great things about the one Squarespace offers as well.

If you’re thinking “Man, this is too much...do I really need this”, I’m here to tell you YES you do need this. SEO is incredibly important to any business’ website. If you want to learn more about why we use SEO I have an amazing blog post here If you’d rather leave SEO to a professional, I offer amazing SEO in all of my packages! Next we’ll be talking about On-Page SEO.

See you later.
