On-Page SEO

Let’s talk more about the 3 sections of SEO. Last week was our introduction to SEO and in those posts I talked about creating another set of 3 diving into each section more, so that’s exactly what we’re doing this week! Today we’re talking about On-Page SEO and earlier this week we talked about Off-Page SEO and Technical SEO.

What is On-Page SEO? On-Page SEO is the practice of optimizing your web page content for search engines which usually include things like internal links, title tags, content, and URLs. What is important? Google is looking through your site for keywords; wouldn’t you want to make those words as appealing as possible?

What are all of those On-Page SEO things and what do they mean? Let’s do a quick run down…

Internal Links- Links that go from one page on a domain to a different page on the same domain.
Title Tags- An HTML element that specifies the title of a web page.
Content- The information that makes up your website.
URLs-Uniform Resource Locator is the web address that we enter into a browser to access a web page.

Now that we know more about them let’s get into how to utilize them.

Search engines need to see content in order to list pages in massive keyword based indices. Don’t hide or bury your main link navigation to improve your internal links. Customizing your title tags and descriptions can help Google sort your content and then promote it accordingly. Your content is obviously incredibly important to your website. Take the extra steps to make your site amazing versus just great, it’ll pay off. Believe it or not your URL or domain name can help with SEO as well. Think of the difference between crewebdesigns.com and cr3w3bd3signs.net. When I’m working with a client one of the first things I ask them is if they’ve secured the domain name for their business. It’s something so inexpensive, but incredibly vital. You want your domain name to be something easy and fitting. Most people are going to assume your site ends with “.com” and if you make it easy to remember, that's always a plus.

If you’re thinking “Man, this is too much...do I really need this”, I’m here to tell you YES you do need this. SEO is incredibly important to any business’ website. If you want to learn more about why we use SEO I have an amazing blog post here on it. If you’d rather leave SEO to a professional, I offer amazing SEO in all of my packages!
